Real Madrid players stayed at the INNSiDe Hotel ahead of their Champions League clash with Liverpool tonight
Loud fireworks were reportedly set off outside the hotel where Real Madrid players have stayed overnight ahead of their UEFA Champions League meeting with Liverpool. The Spanish giants are the first of two major opponents Arne Slot’s side play at home this week.
The Reds host Real Madrid again in this season’s competition, aiming to claim their first win in this head-to-head in 15 years. The away team had arrived in the city on Tuesday, training at Anfield whilst manager Carlo Ancelotti and midfielder Jude Bellingham spoke to the media.
Staying at the four-star INNSiDe Hotel on Old Hall Street overnight heading into the day of the fixture, numerous fireworks producing loud bangs were reportedly going off in close proximity to the hotel in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The same events occurred in February 2023 when Real Madrid stayed at the same INNSiDe Hotel ahead of a Champions League Round of 16 meeting with Liverpool during the 2022/23 campaign.
This time they face one another in the competition’s revamped ‘league phase’, which after four rounds the Reds topped as the only team to have collected maximum points. With half as many points, disappointed Real Madrid sat 18th.
Key injuries to their squad have stunted their start to the 2024/25 campaign, both domestically and in Europe. Players such as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba did not travel and therefore were not with the group subjected to the Wednesday morning fireworks.
