Caoimhin Kelleher saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappe during Liverpool’s clash with Real Madrid at Anfield
Alisson Becker might have work to do when he returns to full fitness, such is the form of Caoimhin Kelleher in the Liverpool goal right now. The Irishman strengthened his burgeoning reputation with a stunning penalty save from Kylian Mbappe during the Champions League clash with Real Madrid at Anfield.
Kelleher has filled in brilliantly for Alisson since the Brazilian injured a hamstring during the 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace in early October and while he’s nearing a return to full fitness, he might have a fight on his hands when it comes to regaining his place in the team.
Indeed, Alisson could be seen smirking from behind the bench as Kelleher got down to his left to deny French superstar Mbappe after Lucas Vazquez was fouled by Robertson.

No doubt Alisson was delighted for his team-mate, who he’s fiercely supported since he came through the ranks at Anfield. Kelleher has saved three of the four penalties he’s faced as Liverpool goalkeeper.
Liverpool were leading 1-0 at the time after Alexis Mac Alister’s superb opening goal and later missed their own penalty when Mohamed Salah hit the outside of the post after the Egyptian was fouled by Ferland Mendy.
