Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who will take over the Chariot Square hotel, following reports that Debbie Webster is set to be killed off in a heartbreaking twist.
Coronation Street viewers are convinced they’ve sussed out the next boss of the Chariot Square hotel amid whispers that Debbie Webster might face a tragic exit. Debbie, portrayed by Sue Devaney, first graced the cobbles in 1984 as Kevin’s sister, played by Michael Le Vell. After departing in 1985, she made a dramatic comeback in 2019.
Taking the reins of the Chariot Square hotel not long ago, Debbie has quickly become a beloved character among viewers. Yet, recent speculation suggests her days could be numbered. Rumours are swirling that Sue Devaney is set to deliver a heart-wrenching performance as Debbie confronts an imminent dementia diagnosis. The storyline, expected to unfold in 2025, is tipped to be a “long-running” saga filled with sorrow.
An insider disclosed to the Metro: “It’s one of the show’s biggest storylines of the year, and a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.”, reports Plymouth Live.

With the fate of Debbie’s hotel, the Chariot Square, up in the air posthumously, fans on a Corrie Facebook fan page have been speculating about its future leadership. One fan queried: “Who will run the Chariot Square when she’s gone?”
Another suggested: “Maybe Carla will buy it, she has an expanding property empire.” Meanwhile, some supporters are betting on the return of a soap icon to take the helm.
“Rosie! Which ties in her return,” one viewer excitedly noted, while another added, “I can see this happening! ” Yet another fan commented with hopeful anticipation, “Hoping that this storyline with Debbie leads to a Webster revival with Rosie and Sophie.”
Rosie Webster, played by Helen Flanagan, first appeared as the youthful daughter of Sally (Sally Dynevor) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) back in 2000, when she was just nine. After departing in 2012 to explore new acting horizons, Helen made a brief return in 2017 before leaving again in 2018 for maternity leave following the birth of her daughter, Delilah. She hasn’t been back on the scene since.
