Sally and her co-star Jon Kay returned to our TV screens on Tuesday morning for the latest instalment of BBC Breakfast
Sally consoles Jon after remembering school sports disappointment
BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent aired concern for her co-host, Jon Kay, as he revealed a personal anecdote from his younger years. The duo returned on Tuesday morning, delivering the day’s top news from the famous red sofa.
In one segment, they were joined by sports correspondent John Watson, who recently discussed English cricketer James Anderson’s lack of success in the Indian Premier League auction.
The 42-year-old bowler was up for grabs for around £10,000, but none of the ten franchises chose to sign him.
On the other hand, young star Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history as the youngest player to be picked up in the auction. The Rajasthan Royals purchased him for 11 million rupees (nearly £104,000).
He gained recognition when he scored a 58-ball century for India Under-19s against Australia U19s in an unofficial Test match in Chennai, according to the Express.

John commented: “It’s amazing how the youngest player in the auction has been bought, yet with all that experience that James Anderson has, no one fancied him.”
A shocked Jon asked, “13? ” To which John responded, “Yes, 13, and he is obviously a hugely talented player, but even that, with that kind of reputation he has at such a young age, to be paying that much for a 13-year-old does seem crazy.”
Sally swiftly interjected during the discussion, saying: “Can I just say James Anderson – I feel a little bit sorry for him. It’s kind of like being in school when you’re the last one to be picked and you’re just standing there and no one wants you.”
Jon quipped, “I wouldn’t know, Sal.” Sally responded with laughter and exclaimed, “Well, I would. It’s quite sad.”
Jon then made an admission, interjecting, “You’re giving me flashbacks now, Sal. ” This prompted Sally to issue an apology and air her conern, saying, “Sorry. Are you alright now, though? It’s okay.”
“Yeah, I’m over it,” Jon assured, and Sally comforted him: “You are fine; you’ve done ok.”
Sally then decided to bring Carol Kirkwood into the conversation, who was ready for her regular weather slot. She remarked, “Let’s go straight to Carol, who is doing more than okay because I bet she was always picked.” Carol laughed and confessed, “No, I was always picked last.”
