Tennis ace Novak Djokovic has made a major announcement regarding his coaching line-up for the forthcoming Australian Open, which is set to commence in mid-January. He announced arch-rival Andy Murray as his new coach to help him secure what would be a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title in Melbourne.
Speaking about this unprecedented move, Djokovic shared his excitement, saying: “I am excited to have one of my greatest rivals on the same side of the net, as my coach. Looking forward to start of the season and competing in Australia alongside Andy with whom I have shared many exceptional moments on the Australian soil.”
On Instagram, accompanied by a throwback photo with Murray, Djokovic indulged in some banter, suggesting with his caption: “He never liked retirement anyway,” a message that resonated with his 15.6 million followers. Meanwhile, Murray who bid farewell to competitive tennis following the 2024 Paris Olympics, expressed his enthusiasm about stepping into this new role, adding: “I’m going to be joining Novak’s team in the off season, helping him to prepare for the Australian Open.
