Large parts of Merseyside are covered by the Met Office weather warning
A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place for snow and ice on Monday. The warning is in place from 7pm today (November 18) to 10am on Tuesday (November 19) and covers large parts of the UK.
Forecasters said an area of snow “may bring disruption” during Monday night and Tuesday morning. The Met Office said people can expect a small chance power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
Chief Meteorologist, Andy Page, said “We have issued yellow warnings for snow and ice as cold weather moves in from the north. This brings snow showers and some ice to parts of Scotland on Sunday night, and then the potential for a spell of snow to lead to disruption to some transport routes across a central swathe of the UK on Tuesday morning.

“Gusty winds in the east also remain a potential hazard. Updates to the warnings for wintry hazards are likely so it is important to stay up to date with the latest forecast”
Much of Merseyside is covered by the weather warning, though not all of our region will be affected, according to the Met Office. Here, we look at how it will affect the different boroughs of Merseyside – at the time of writing.
Sefton
According to the latest Met Office map, Sefton will be largely unaffected by the snow. Coastal areas and those exposed to the Irish sea appear to be less affected by the possibility of snow and ice – the area covered by the warning moves east from the west coast of England.
Liverpool
Much of the city of Liverpool is covered by the warning. However, this is mainly the city centre, south Liverpool and east Liverpool. Much of north Liverpool is outside of the affected area on the map.
Wirral
Northern parts of the Wirral peninsula are not covered by the weather warning. The covered area on the map appears to begin around Birkenhead and covers the width of the peninsula, all the way down to Ellesmere Port and beyond.
Knowsley
Most of Knowsley is covered by the weather warning. The area covered by the warning begins near Kirkby, so every area to the west of it falls within it.
St Helens
All of St Helens falls within the area covered by the warning. It then stretches east across most of the North of England, beyond Manchester and into Yorkshire.
