Coleen Rooney and Dean McCullough were seen running off screen after the exchange
I’m A Celebrity’s Coleen Rooney was branded “Wagatha Christie” in a face-to-face exchange on the launch of the ITV show. Tonight’s extended launch show saw stars arrive in the Australian jungle as the show returns for a new series.
The programme kicked off with one batch of celebrities chugging a bug filled smoothie. The quickest to finish their drink would have first pick of which celebrity they’d like to be paired with in an upcoming challenge.
Radio 1 DJ Dean McCullough chose media personality Coleen Rooney to fight for their chance to become leaders of camp. The title would exempt the pair from the first bush tucker trial and allow them to sleep in the comfort of the leaders’ lodge.

When Dean was asked to choose his partner, he called Coleen “Wagatha Christie” in reference to her public feud with Rebekah Vardy. The 38-year-old, who is married to former Everton striker Wayne Rooney, made national headlines after she accused Rebekah’s Instagram account of selling stories about her to the press.
Dean said: “I’m so so sorry, Wagatha Christie you’re coming with me.” Dean grabbed Coleen’s hand as they ran off screen laughing together.
The pair picked up the keys to a car and made their way to camp. They joked back and forth about the experience and their driving abilities but there was no further mention of Coleen’s nickname.
Earlier today Coleen’s husband Wayne shared a tongue in cheek message to the star on Instagram. Wayne said: “Good luck to our mum who’s in the jungle for @imacelebrity. We’re missing you already but can’t wait to watch (you do some trials) and for people to see what you’re all about. The best. We love you.”
