The restaurant will be giving away free pizza on its opening day
A pop-up bar and restaurant, serving Detroit style pizza and craft beer, is set to open this month. Holy Garage will open its doors on Friday, November 29 on Mount Pleasant in Liverpool’s city centre.
The venue will serve a rotating menu of local craft beer from brands like Black Lodge and Carnival, as well as being the first in the UK to serve premium shaken canned cocktails, Shakacan.
The grade two Victorian building was the former Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), opened in 1877 to provide shelter to Liverpool’s homeless and offer education to tackle literacy challenges in the city.

The YMCA operated from the building until 1941, before it was damaged by bombs during the Blitz and requisitioned to be used as barracks for American soldiers in preparation for D-Day. The restaurant says it will “tap into the buildings history”, combining this with the culture of traditional American sports bars.
The venue will be open seven days a week, showcasing live sports on the biggest projector screen in town, as well as hosting regular events. To celebrate their opening day on Friday, November 29, Holy Garage will be giving away 500 free slices of pizza.
To claim yours, all you need to do is head down to the restaurant as early as possible between 12pm and 5pm on the day, as the slices are on a first-come first-served basis.
