Rail replacement buses will be in place on some Merseyrail lines
A number of Merseyrail train services will be disrupted over the next two days. Merseyrail informed train users that services on Sunday, November 17 and Monday, November 18 will be subject to changes “due to essential signalling work”.
Headbolt Lane, Southport and the Ormskirk and Hunts Cross lines will have rail replacement buses in operation between some of its stations on Sunday. There will also be rail replacement buses on all first services on Monday morning.
In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Merseyrail said: “On Sunday 17 November, due to essential signalling work, Merseyrail’s northern line will be disrupted.”
Ormskirk and Hunts Cross line
Trains will be operating between Ormskirk and Walton stations. However, rail replacement buses will be in place between Aintree and Hunts Cross stations via Moorfields.
Headbolt Lane line
Trains will be operating between Headbolt Lane and Rice Lane stations. Rail replacement buses will be in place between Rice Lane and Hunts Cross stations via Moorfields.
Southport line
Trains will be operating between Southport and Seaforth stations. Rail replacement buses will be in place between Waterloo and Moorfields stations.
Monday 18 November – First Services
Due to the signalling works, rail replacement buses will replace trains on all first services on Monday, November 18, these services will be shown in our journey planner.
- 06:01 Hunts Cross – Ormskirk will start at Liverpool Central at 06:25.
- 05:41 Headbolt Lane – Liverpool Central is cancelled.
- 06:05 Liverpool Central – Headbolt Lane will start from Rice Lane at 06:17.
- 05:59 Sandhills – Southport will depart at 06:03.
- 06:02 Liverpool Central – Southport starts Sandhills 06:16.
