Coronation Street fans now know who is responsible for killing Joel Deering but some eagle-eyed fans are now claiming they’ve spotted a major error in the dramatic storyline
Coronation Street teases who killed Joel Deering in new promo
Joel Deering’s killer has finally been revealed but Coronation Street fans have been left with “so many questions”. During Friday’s (November 15) dramatic episode of the ITV soap, it was confirmed that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) whacked Joel over the head with a rock as he tried to kill her boyfriend Max Turner (Paddy Beaver).
As series of flashbacks filled in the gaps of the day Joel died as the various suspects’ stories were pieced together. Scared of where Joel might be lurking, Lauren found out his location through her tracker app and Max went to find him, taking the stolen CS spray.
After discovering Joel’s fake suicide note in his car, Max ran up to the bridge, leading to a stand-off between the two. Despite the CS spray aimed at his face, Joel taunted Max and insulted Lauren.

Joel was strangling Max almost to death when Lauren arrived on the scene. She grabbed a rock and hit Joel, ultimately killing him. Max insisted they call the police, but Lauren was terrified about losing her son.
In a panic, the teenagers decided to let everyone think Joel’s death was suicide and threw him into the water. However, fans were quick to point out a major flaw in the storyline and claimed it had previously been mentioned that Joel’s body was found in a bag.
Taking to social media, one fan pointed out: “Joel being found in a bag but not being in one in today’s flashbacks, Lisa saying ‘Get off me’ in the previous episode but not revealing anything new today, Carla and Mason not even being in this episode despite being suspects I’ve so many questions.”
Another added: “It still doesn’t make sense it was Lauren and Max !! The body was found in a bag and there was no mention of that on tonight’s episode.” Someone else typed: “Had to turn brightness up on tv lol So HOW did Joel end up in a BAG???”
A fourth person agreed: “Why is absolutely nobody questioning the fact Joel’s body was found in a bag?” A fifth said: “Surely the writers wouldn’t forget the body bag that Joel was found in whats going on.”
A sixth viewer posted: “Hang on. So why was Joel found in a bag? Did he wake up and someone else took him out? also Callum Lill said on tv yesterday he filmed underwater scenes.”
In the present day, Max was charged with murder. He continued to take the blame for Lauren but insisted it was self-defence. However, not everyone was convinced. With her beau’s future on the line, will Lauren come clean?
