Liverpool have an important Champions League game with Real Madrid coming up – and the Spanish giants have been handed a welcome boost among ongoing injury troubles.
With Liverpool not in action during November’s international break, Reds’ eyes are firmly fixed on their upcoming Champions League match coming at the end of the month. Real Madrid are visitors to Anfield in the next game in that competition with Arne Slot aiming to do the one thing Jurgen Klopp was unable to.
Once their Premier League meeting with rock-bottom Southampton is out of the way, attentions can turn to their battle with the La Liga giants. Europe’s reigning champions hold a weight to their name few other clubs can match and, although the Reds are also considered in such a bracket, meetings over the last six years have produced horrid results from a Liverpool perspective.
With Klopp in charge they had six meetings, equating to one draw and five defeats. That included the Champions League‘s 2018 and 2022 finals – the latter being one of the most agonising results of the German’s time in England.

Now is the turn of Slot to correct this unwanted streak, and it has been highly-publicised how crisis in the Spanish capital may aid him and Liverpool at Anfield on November 27. Defenders Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao have both been ruled out for the season – while their No.1 goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is absent for an undetermined amount of time – as David Alaba, Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni and Lucas Vazquez remain highly doubtful to return before the month’s end.
What’s more, the team that only months ago celebrated the La Liga and Champions League double are struggling to keep up pace with Barcelona and their European rivals – even with Kylian Mbappe joining the likes of Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham in the team. They have been crying out for a slice of luck amid the setbacks and albeit a small one, Los Blancos have found something to be happy about this international break.
All any team can wish of their players going away to play for their respective national teams is that they return fit and healthy. This looks like it will be the case with central midfielder Eduardo Camavinga who, after picking up a yellow card in France’s 0-0 draw with Israel on Thursday night, means that he’s now suspended for their final UEFA Nations League fixture.
The 22-year-old was then substituted in the 71st minute without any problems, bringing an end to his contributions during this break. Given he suffered a knee problem which kept him side-lined for 11 games towards the start of this season, Real will undoubtedly be pleased he’s not featuring for his country any more than has been required.
