A man from Fazakerley has been jailed for nine years and nine months after raping a woman. Jamie Jones, 29, of Montrovia Crescent, was found guilty of two counts of rape and he was sentenced today, Wednesday, November 13, at Liverpool Crown Court. Jones was also issued with a 12 year Restraining Order and Lifetime Sex Offenders Registration.
On Friday, April 15 2022, Jones twice raped a woman aged in her 20s at his home. The victim in this case, who has a lifelong legal right to anonymity, said in her Victim Impact Statement: “I am constantly having nightmares about it happening. I then struggle getting back asleep then that impacts on the next day, especially on how I am feeling.
“When I am on my own, I am constantly thinking about it. I struggle to sleep when I am in the house on my own. I only feel okay when I am with other people.

“Before it happened, I would go out, I wouldn’t look over my shoulder. It has made me change the way I think about things. It has changed my day to day peace. I am always worried and thinking about what might happen.”Detective Sergeant Bob Sandham, who was in charge of the investigation, said: “Jones is a dangerous offender and he now faces a significant prison term. Despite denying the offences and forcing his victim to relive the ordeal through a trial, a jury saw through his lies.“I would like to praise the courage and dignity shown by the victim throughout the investigation. Today’s result shows that violence against women and girls will simply not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.“We are committed to protecting victims of sexual offences, and anyone who reports an incident to us will be safeguarded and supported throughout the investigation by specially trained officers and Sexual Violence Advocates who will provide all the relevant support.“Anyone that has been a victim of a sexual offence, is concerned for the safety of someone they know or suspects someone to be engaging in this criminal activity, should come forward and speak to us.“We have a team of dedicated staff who will expertly and compassionately deal with your reports and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”Anyone with information or wants to report a sexual offence is asked to call 101 where you will be spoken to by specially trained officers or you can pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
