A feature film based on the HBO series is reportedly in the words
The Game of Thrones franchise has continued to grow since the series’ conclusion in 2019, thanks to its ever-growing fan base. HBO has since produced two seasons of the spin-off House of the Dragon and completed filming for the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will release next year.
Even more shows based on George RR Martin’s fantasy world are in development, and now a big-screen movie is also on the cards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, multiple sources have informed them of a Game of Thrones film which is in “very early stage development, with no filmmaker, cast or writer yet attached. But the company is keen on exploring the idea of Westeros invading cinemas.”
Martin himself has shown interest in a Game of Thrones movie as far back as 2014. Interestingly, the main series almost ended with three feature films instead of the final season, which was not well-received by fans.
