Strictly Come Dancing has a new favourite as Chris McCausland is the bookies’ frontrunner but the comedian has asked Dianne the same question after every show
Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland has opened up about the emotional comment he shares with his dance partner Dianne Buswell after each round of the competition. Chris, the first blind contestant on Strictly, is now favourite to take home the Glitterball trophy.
The comedian and Dianne have won over many fans due to their strong bond and daring routines. However, the 47-year-old admitted that he was unsure if he could even participate in the show.
Liverpool native Chris will appear on The One Show tonight alongside dance partner Dianne. And while the two seem to be going from strength-to-strength, Chris has opened up about his nerves ahead of the dances.
Speaking to Heat magazine, Chris said: “No. Every time we get through I say to Dianne ‘I got away with that, didn’t I? ‘” He added: “It’s gone better than I thought it would, because I had no idea whether I’d be able to do it at all, which is partly my doubt and partly the fear of doing Strictly. That first episode, to say I was s******* my pants is an understatement.”
Two weeks ago, Chris achieved his highest score yet with a moving Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone, a song close to his heart as a native of Liverpool. He followed this with a Samba to the Bee Gees’ Stayin’ Alive for the Halloween special.
Despite the routine not being as well received by the judges, earning three sevens and a five from Craig Revel Horwood, Chris continues to charm viewers with his personality and dancing skills. However, some fans are worried about what might happen if the comic has a bad week, according to The Express, reports Birmingham Live.
On social media, one wrote: “I love Chris, not just his humour and comebacks but he is genuinely a great dancer, I think he’ll make it all the way…the only issue is, if he’s in a dance-off against say, Tasha, it’s still judges vote how can they choose him over her?
They continued: “The public would for sure, but the judges if they’re going on technicality?? I’d want him in there though 100% already deserves to be in the final in my eyes.”
Another added: “If the public are voting for him so heavily Chris will never have to worry about a dance-off.”
