Coronation Street is set for explosive scenes next week as one resident comes clean and claims she’s responsible for Joel Deering’s death
Coronation Street spoilers for next week see one resident claim they’re responsible for Joel Deering’s death in a huge bombshell.
It was recently revealed that missing evil solicitor Joel, played by Calum Lill, had been murdered with everyone treated as a suspect on the cobbles. All soap watchers know so far is that Joel was murdered on the night of September 27 and it is believed he was killed with a heavy item such as a crowbar.
Earlier this month, the hit ITV soap revealed that a series of dramatic flashbacks will help viewers piece the puzzle together with fans already seeing flashbacks involving suspects Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) and Joel’s ex Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown).
Meanwhile, episodes this week see the spotlight on DS Lisa Swain, played by Vicky Myers, and Carla Connor, played by Alison King. With Ronnie, Mason, Ed, Dee-Dee, DS Swain and Carla all teased as suspects, spoilers next week see one resident come clean – but is it all as it seems?
In upcoming episodes, Dee-Dee breaks down and confesses to her father Ed that she killed Joel after finding out he was about to do a runner. Later, Dee-Dee asserts that she’s going to hand herself into the police but Ed’s horrified and tries to talk her out of it. Is Dee-Dee really responsible and could this lead to an exit for the character who has been on the cobbles since 2022?
Elsewhere next week, Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts, who is investigating Joel’s death, decides to grill his colleague DS Swain, whose daughter Betsy was targeted by the evil solicitor before his murder. In the upcoming scenes, Kit reveals to Lisa that they found an unsent message on her phone suggesting she wanted Joel dead. Later, Kit demands to know where she was on the night of Joel’s murder and DS Swain receives a message summoning her to the station.
Also next week, Billy Mayhew, played by Daniel Brocklebank, spirals following the death of his husband Paul Foreman, played by Peter Ash. In upcoming scenes, Summer returns home to find a strange man in the flat to which Billy admits he invited Wayne back after meeting him at the addicts group.
The next day, a depressed Billy confides in Summer that he’s not sure he can face the day’s celebrations to which he knocks back a whisky before heading to the pub. Later, as everyone watches as Paul’s ashes are released, the screen suddenly goes blank.
Having pulled the lead out of the laptop, a drunk and emotional Billy declares it a farce and confesses he made a pass at ex Todd Grimshaw after Paul’s funeral. Drinking behind the factory in the bitter cold, Billy listens to voice clips of Paul.
However, in a scary twist, his phone battery dies and Billy closes his eyes in a drunken stupor. Later, as Billy closes his eyes, drifting away, his mother-in-law Bernie Winter heads out into the night to look for him. Finding him frozen to the core, is Bernie too late?
