Deal or No Deal fans were left devastated as contestant Donna was hit with a devastating blow – and host Stephen Mulhern was forced to sit down
Deal Or No Deal is making a return – and it’s going to be on ITV
Stephen Mulhern, the host of Deal or No Deal, had to take a moment to “sit down” as contestant Donna, who hails from Liverpool, experienced a heart-wrenching turn of events during the game.
On Tuesday (October 29), Donna, who quickly became known as ‘Deadly Donna’ among her peers, was on an incredible winning streak, eliminating low amounts one after another. With just £100 left on the board and the substantial sums of £75,000 and £100,000 still in play, she found herself in a strong position.
The banker, feeling the pressure, offered her a tempting sum exceeding £24,000. However, Donna, who had previously had the £75,000 box three times while participating with others, boldly declined the offer. Her gamble didn’t pay off, and she watched the large amounts vanish from the board, leaving her with only £100, £1,000, and £2,000 as her remaining options.
Despite the setback, Donna persevered, holding onto her box until the end. She ultimately left with £2,000, having rejected a final offer of £1,100 from the banker, reports the Mirror.
The outcome was a tough pill to swallow for Donna, who had seemed poised to take home a significant cash prize. Fans took to social media to express their sympathy, with one user commenting: “This is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Another remarked: “Bet she is regretting that no deal now…” while a third shared: “Donna has just seen her life crumble before her eyes.”
Donna, a hypnotherapist, had the support of her sister Jackie in the audience who was keen for her to take the £24,250 offer but stood by her decision. Donna shared that she hoped to win a minimum of £10,000 to invest in a dedicated space for her practice and give a portion to her daughter Jodie, who is involved in charitable work.
Supporters were rooting for the “lovely lady” to scoop a substantial sum, with one sharing online: “Donna is so lovely, I really hope she does well.” Another commented: “What a lady Donna is. All the best, lovey.”
However, some viewers were less than impressed with the money on the table, taking issue with the revamped ITV show for dropping the top prize amount of £250,000. A viewer expressed annoyance on social media: “What is this rubbish reboot? £2750 when only one red has been eliminated. ABYSMAL!”
Another chimed in: “Imagine how much better it would be if they still had £250.000 in the game.” Similarly, a third agreed saying: “Hey @StephenMulhern I thought #DealOrNoDeal jackpot was £250,000 not £100,000!”
