The three puppies were close to death
Three puppies were found “dumped” in a cardboard box. Celandine Wood Animal Rescue revealed it had three puppies taken to them after three puppies were found in a cardboard box by the side of a road.
The Heswall based animal rescue continued to say the three puppies still have their eyes closed and were close to death after being out in the cold. It is also believed they are likely a medium-to-large breed of dog but staff have no idea what they are yet. Writing on Facebook, the rescue centre added: “Three is a relatively small litter so we hope there aren’t others who weren’t so lucky.
“Mum must be fretting without them after carrying them for so long. Our volunteers are feeding day and night every 3 hours and they are gaining weight nicely. We can’t wait to see their development and are already keeping us on our toes.”

It then issued a warning to pet owners to make sure their dogs are neutered. The post said: “This is the reality of unwanted litters – dumped and left for dead. If you find yourself in this position please look and ask for help.”
People were quick to share their shock at the discovery. Susan Pritchard wrote; “Some humans are disgusting poor babies thank goodness they were found and are now with you.”
Merril Grundy commented on the post: “Such appalling behaviour by disgusting human beings.. [I have] donated. Thank you to you and your volunteers for saving these little defenceless pups.”
The non-profit organisation also appealed for donations as it continues to care for the puppies and other animals. Its dog wishlist can be found here.
