Sam Quek and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin impressed the judges with their Halloween routine – but not everybody loved their dance
Strictly: Nikita and Sam strip off during routine
Former Strictly Come Dancing star Ola Jordan didn’t hold back as she dubbed Sam Quek’s latest performance a “mess”, suggesting it was the weakest of last week’s show.
During the spine-tingling Halloween special, Sam and her pro partner Nikita Kuzmin pulled out all the stops with a jive to the hit Time Warp. The performance got the audience on their feet when Sam and Nikita revealed risque dresses beneath their initial costumes.
Despite bagging their highest score so far with an impressive 31 points from the judges, Ola was unimpressed, sharing with Mecca Bingo: “That was probably my least favourite dance of Sam’s.
“I feel that dance was overmarked.” Her critique didn’t end there, as she explained: “I think it was a mess when I was looking at it, I was like, what is this?”
Ola attributed part of the issues to the costume change during the routine: “I think the whole taking the costume off was a bit of a distraction for her and she was so buzzing. You get this buzz from doing a live show. She was so buzzing and then they were going wrong, they were not in sync. Actually, it was the worst dance for her again,” reports the Express.
Reflecting on Sam’s journey since the start of the season in September, Ola remarked: “The other dances that she did were actually pretty good, but this one was definitely not my favourite, and I find it really strange that she got the best scores for that dance. I feel like she’s been overmarked this week. I didn’t like it at all.”
Ola Jordan, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional, has offered some advice to Sam Quek on how she can improve her performance. She said: “I think she’s like one of the people that never had any dance training, and you can tell that, with her arms she didn’t know where to put her arms, but she’s got to be taught that. I think Nikita’s got to bring it back to basic.”
“He’s got to go through her basics, her Jive action wasn’t great, her kicks were good, but her actual Jive action wasn’t great. He should be working on those things and improving her arm position.”
“For someone like that who has never danced before, it needs to be taught. She’s got to really get down into the technique and start from the beginning. Every dance has got to be based on technique.”
“For that one, they definitely didn’t spend that much time on the technique, that’s for sure. Or he didn’t. And he needs to concentrate on that for me, I think,” she expressed.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to screens on Saturday at 6:30pm on BBC One.
