Shaun Wallace has been a Chaser on the ITV show since 2009
Shaun Wallace, best known as one of The Chasers on ITV’s ‘The Chase’, has revealed that a teacher once told him he would likely “end up in prison”. The 64 year old, who also has a successful career as a barrister, shared his story on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’.
He told stand-in-host Ranvir Singh: “On the 27 November next month I’ll be celebrating 40 years at the bar and as a young boy, I always wanted to be a lawyer. I wrote to the Bar Council when I was 12 years old and I got the letter back and I kept that as a source of inspiration. But then I was told by my careers teacher ‘You, a lawyer? At best you’re going to end up working in a factory but someone like you is going to end up in prison’.

The quizzer said despite finding this “demoralising” as a teenager, Shaun used it as motivation. He added: “So to be told that as a 15 year old is demoralising but as far as I was concerned, the only way I could stay in charge of my own destiny was to make sure I had an educated mind. I had a wonderful sister who was my big heroine, Sandra, she taught me the importance of reading, the importance of education and I brought that through to my life in terms of championing the importance of having an educated mind to stay control of your own destiny.”
Recently Bradley Walsh raised eyebrows with his noticeably raspy voice during an episode of The Chase. The much-loved 64-year-old telly host welcomed four new contestants to challenge the ‘Governess’ Anne Hegerty but it was his hoarse voice that set tongues wagging, with fans expressing more concern for Bradley than for the contestants’ success.
One concerned viewer remarked on social media that Bradley’s voice simply didn’t “sound right”, while others echoed the sentiment, noting the presenter wasn’t quite himself. Social media channels, previously known as Twitter, were abuzz with comments from worried fans. Posts included: “Is something wrong with Bradley’s voice? ” and other viewers chimed in saying, “Yep, also came here to say that… I thought we had a different presenter at first.”
Comments continued with fans sharing, “Poor Bradley’s voice. Doesn’t sound right today.” Another added: “What’s going on with Bradley’s voice today? He sounds like he’s let a helium balloon down in his mouth.”, reports the Mirror. A third tweet showed a fan’s concern: “Brad sounds sick I hope he’s ok.”
Since taking up the role as the host of the beloved quiz show when it debuted in 2009, Bradley celebrated an incredible 15 years at the centre of the ITV programme. Talking to the Daily Mail back in August, Walsh expressed his eagerness to continue for another 15 years, with a caveat that he’d step away should public opinion of the show ever decline.
He remarked: “Until people say they’ve had enough and start switching off I’ll do it. We’ve had such an extraordinary time together. It’s the best job in the world.”
