Neighbours reported hearing a “loud bang” which they thought was a firework until they looked outside
A garden wall was destroyed this evening after a driver ploughed into a wall and then a tree. Emergency services were called to Sefton Road in Litherland at around 6.30pm
Neighbours reported hearing a “loud band” which sounded like a “firework”. Merseyside Police confirmed the crash was damage-only and the driver was uninjured.
The road was reportedly blocked off while police cleared the scene. Photographs taken at the scene show a heap of bricks and car debris on the ground.
One neighbour, who was in the shower at the time of the incident, told the ECHO: “I expected to look out the window and see a crash. But the driver had veered off the road and gone into the tree. It was really bad and how he survived it, I don’t know.

“I thought it was a firework at first, but then I saw the car in the tree. He’s okay. He took his Tesco carrier bags and got off. He’s very lucky that no-one was walking past at the time.” Another resident said: “We thought it was a firework going off and then we saw the car through the door.”
