The hit daytime drama will return with a fourth series next month
A new wave of drama is set to hit our daytime viewing as BBC One announces the return of the popular series Hope Street. Since its debut in 2021, fans have been eagerly anticipating what’s next, and they won’t be disappointed with an eight-episode fourth instalment coming this November.
Mark your calendars for a dose of Hope Street returning to BBC One on Friday, 1 November. But if you can’t wait that long, the entire series will be ready for binge-watching on BBC iPlayer from 7pm on Monday, 28 October, right after its premiere on BBC One NI.
Set against the captivating backdrop of the fictional Northern Irish town of Port Devine, Hope Street delves into the intriguing world of its local police force. As the fourth series unfolds, viewers can expect significant changes that shake up Port Devine, with actress Kerri Quinn describing the new season akin to a “reboot”.

She shared: “It’s a very different year. We have so many new people, so it feels almost like a reboot. You need that fresh energy.”
The show promises a refreshing shake-up with an influx of new characters and the return of beloved regulars, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. Among the fresh faces, Derry Girls star Tara Lynne O’Neill takes the spotlight as newcomer Inspector Eve Dunlop who makes a stirring impression, particularly on the unsettled Marlene, reports the Mirror.
Tara opened up about her new role, sharing: “Because Eve has known Marlene since school, there is a lovely crossover between the personal and the professional and there’s stuff to play there. How do you manage your friend? And they haven’t even been friends since they were teenagers so all this time has passed so who’s in charge? Who’s not in charge? She needs Marlene on her side but also has to put her in her place.”
Joining the cast is barmaid Brandi McClure, brought to life by Katie Shortt, who characterises her role as “very fun” and admits she’s “very obsessed with Nicole”. The show also welcomes Eleanor Methven as Eve’s mum Lois Dunlop, RheAna Kamalu playing Eve’s stepdaughter Chloe Jackson, and Jonny Grogan as Eve’s troubled son, Ross Dunlop.
RheAna teased her character’s dynamics, saying: “Chloe is apprehensive [about moving to Port Devine] but quickly it’s a breath of fresh air. It’s very nice for her to feel welcome. She’s a firecracker! A fun and a confident young woman.”
The series introduces a fresh face in law enforcement with Marcus Onilude, famed from Ted Lasso, stepping into the shoes of Detective Constable Luke Jackson, who finds an instant rapport with Eve.
Alongside the newcomers, familiar faces are set to return. Niall Wright reprises his role as PC Callum McCarthy, pivotal in the upcoming series four drama.
Paddy Jenkins returns as Callum’s father Seamie, making a surprising entrance, while Callum’s relationship with Jo Lipton, played by Karen Hassan, faces challenges.
