A “gem of a city” that has been described as an “ideal destination” can be flown to from Liverpool John Lennon Airport for £52. Located in Northern Ireland, Derry has long welcomed visitors.
Every year, Scousers travel there to visit loved ones or for a city break. And if you haven’t visited Derry yet, it “should definitely be next on your list to visit.”
Back in June, the ECHO reported how easyJet were launching the new route from Liverpool to City of Derry Airport from November 4. From next month, flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays all year round.

At the time, easyJet said “(It) is home of Ireland’s only completely intact historic Walled City, the Derry Girls, a vibrant food scene, award winning museums and plenty to discover where the Wild Atlantic Way meets the Causeway Coastal Route. Scottish airline Loganair used to operate flights between Derry and Liverpool, having taken over the route from Ryanair in 2021, however, the airline dropped the route in January of this year.

What are the best attractions in Derry?
There is so much to see and do in Derry. During your stay, there are many landmarks to visit.
This includes St Columb’s Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece which was the first cathedral built after the Reformation. One of the City’s most recognisable landmarks is also the Guildhall.
At the heart of city life since 1887, the auburn brick building is Grade A listed. In more recent years, Derry has attracted a new audience through the famous Channel 4 series, Derry Girls.
Following a group of young friends in 90s Derry, you can go on walking tours of the locations and fans can visit the incredible Derry Girls mural.
Visitors can also see the People’s Gallery Murals – 12 murals decorating the gable ends of houses along Rossville Street. These fascinating pieces commemorate key events in Derry’s modern history.
Within a short drive of the city is one of the most famous sights in the world – the Giant’s Causeway. Northern Ireland’s first UNESCO Heritage Site, it is a geological wonder.
