Strictly Come Dancing and The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks has set the record straight about his relationship status, amid ongoing rumours about his love life.
Strictly Come Dancing hopeful Pete Wicks has candidly revealed what he finds attractive about women, away from their physical appearance. Amid ongoing rumours about his love life, the former The Only Way Is Essex heartthrob has clarified that he’s currently single and not looking to settle down just yet.
In his tell-all book Never Enough, the 36-year-old touched upon his upbringing and family dynamics that initially led him to believe that “men are supposed to go out and work and the women stay home and look after the kids”. However, witnessing his mother’s challenges after his parents’ separation made him realise he wanted a different dynamic.
He expressed: “I think ambition is one of the sexiest qualities in a woman – but it was something that had made its way into my head. I still always pay for everything when I take women on dates, even if they’re much more successful than me.
“It’s not about wanting to have the upper hand, it’s just about feeling like I can provide something.”
Pete has had numerous relationships in the public eye, including romances with his former TOWIE co-stars Megan McKenna, Shelby Tribble, Chloe Sims.
More recently, he has been linked to Love Island star Maura Higgins and his Strictly Come Dancing partner Jowita Przystal, but has since confirmed he is single.
After rumours surfaced about an apparent kiss with Jowita during their American Smooth on the show, he discussed the situation on his and Sam Thompson’s Staying Relevant podcast. “They called it a passionate kiss, it’s the choreography, and we didn’t,” he said.
He also spoke about how his on-screen image has followed him since TOWIE, adding: “I had this bad boy persona, and that’s my fault, but the person I am now is different to the person I was 11 years ago, and the person I am now is different to the person I will be in 11 years.
“You as a person move on, but the narrative doesn’t.”
