Neighbours said they were “creeped out” after the discovery was made in a garden
Neighbours were shocked to find a police scene on their doorstep this evening. A house was cordoned off after unidentified bones were found by a construction company under an outhouse on Stourton Road, Kirkby.
Police said the bones were found in a bag while someone was digging in a back garden. Neighbours in the area said they were “creeped out” when they heard the reason for the police presence.
One neighbour, who lives next door, said: “It’s always a bit worrying when there’s police cars outside your house. If it is human bones, it’s scary. You really don’t know who you live right next to. It’s just so creepy more than anything else. I don’t think I’ll sleep if it turns out to be a body.”

Another resident said: “I saw the police car outside but I didn’t know what happened. It’s just crazy. I didn’t expect a bag of bones to be found on my road. It’s a nice area so fingers crossed it’s not human remains. I think it would make more sense if it’s animal bones.”
Merseyside Police said the bones are being analysed to establish whether they are animal or human. A police spokesperson said: “Officers are in attendance on Stourton Road, Kirkby, today following a report unidentified bones had been discovered in a garden.
“We were called just before 10.45am to the report a man had found the bones in a bag while digging in a back garden. The discovery is being analysed to establish whether the bones are animal or human.”
