Three fire engines and Merseyside Police were sent to the scene of the blaze
A road was cordoned off this evening after a house went up in flames. Emergency services were called to Winsham Road, Kirkby, at around 6.10pm on Monday, October 14. Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews arrived within four minutes.
At the scene, firefighters found the back bedroom of a two-storey end terrace house alight. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed everyone was out of the property before they arrived.
Merseyside Police and Scottish Power were also at the scene. The incident has now been handed over to police and a cordon remains in place. A fire service spokesperson said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on the corner of Winsham Road, Southdene, Kirkby, on the evening of Monday 14th October. Crews were alerted at 18.09 and on scene at 18.13, with three fire engines attending at the height of the incident.

“On arrival this was a fire to the back bedroom of a two storey end terrace property. All persons were out of the property prior to fire service attendance. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were committed under rapid deployment to prevent escalation. One hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera was used.
“The fire was extinguished shortly after, with utilities to the premises isolated and crews damping down inside the property. Crews also checked the property next door with no signs of fire spread reported.
“The affected property was ventilated using a ppv fan and the loft was checked with no signs of fire spread. Crews carried out home fire safety checks in the road of the affected property, and a cordon is in place.
“Merseyside Police and Scottish Power are also in attendance, alongside a representative from Liv Housing. Firefighters are continuing to hotspot and monitor temperatures. The loft space was reinspected and no signs of fire spread was detected.
“Crews completed final temperature checks, with all readings at ambient levels and made up their equipment before handing over to Merseyside Police. Fire service personnel left the scene at 22.09.”
