Guardiola addresses future
Out of contract with Manchester City at the end of the season, Pep Guardiola has spoken out on his future at the club as questions continue to be asked over his next step in the game.
The Catalan coach has been in England since the summer of 2016 and has proven to be a major problem for other managers in the division, who have generally struggled to get the better of him.
Jurgen Klopp was able to get one over on Guardiola during the 2019/20 season, though it has been City dominance with the exception of this extraordinary Liverpool campaign.
Guardiola has been linked with becoming the next England manager, though responded to this suggestion by telling Che Tempo Che Fa: ‘It’s not true. I’m Manchester City manager.”
Refusing to rule anything out, though, he added: ‘I’ve not decided anything, everything can happen. So I don’t know. I till need to reflect and decide what I want to do.”
Arne Slot dream XI
Arne Slot has chosen his all-time Champions League dream starting eleven, opting to select five Liverpool players in his squad.
Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Steven Gerrard and Mohamed Salah all made the cut, with the rest of the team being made up of Gerard Pique, Frank de Boer, Sergio Busquets, Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Explaining his decision to pick Alisson, Slot told Amazon Prime: “Everybody will understand that I pick Alisson. I’ve seen how special he is. He has been outstanding for Liverpool all these years.” On Alexander-Arnold, he added: “He’s been so special in all these years.”
Regarding Van Dijk, the Reds’ boss remarked: “Virgil needs to be there. He has had a lot of impact on this club. Impressive centre-back, really good in the air.” Lastly, on Salah, he stated: “It’s clear he should be in. Eight or nine years at such a high level. He has been really special.”
