Christine Bond, 41, was described as “the nicest woman you could ever meet”
Tributes have been pouring in for a mum-of-five who tragically died following a short battle with cancer. Christine Bond, 41, from Litherland, was told she had sciatica, however later discovered it was actually cancer and died just ten months after her shock diagnosis.
Her cousin, Clare Purvis, 41, told the ECHO how Christine had lost a lot of weight and became extremely weak during her short battle with the disease. She went to the doctors after finding a lump on her kidney two years ago, but was told it was “nothing to worry about”.
Over the last two years, Christine began to experience bad pains in her back and legs. She was diagnosed with sciatica, but her symptoms continued to worsen. She was also experiencing extreme weight loss and tiredness, and was subsequently diagnosed with arthritis in her hip.

Christine was eventually sent for bloods, and received a call from the hospital telling her she needed more scans. She was then told she has cancer in her spine, hip and kidney.
Following Christine’s diagnosis she was immediately put on treatment, however the cancer continued to spread. Clare said: “Three weeks ago they [the doctors] took her off medication because it wasn’t working, they said she possibly had months, then months turned into weeks and then they told us it would be days.” Clare died on Thursday, October 10 in hospital. Clare added: “It still doesn’t feel real.”
