Perry and Myles are hoping to take Europe by storm
Two brothers are set to make history this month after they were inspired at a school breakfast club. Perry Howarth, 12, and his brother Myles, 11, from West Derby, have established promising careers in DJ’ing, with the pair regularly performing at youth events in the city.
They are now set to take the stage in Amsterdam for a huge festival. Their love for music originated when they were in primary school a few years ago. This came as a surprise to their mum Kathy.
She told the ECHO: “When Perry was in school at St Paul and St Timothy’s, they brought in a breakfast club. They do DJ’ing and martial arts. DJ. Kaci-lea, a Liverpool DJ who does events there, let Perry have a go. This was about a month before his ninth birthday. He then asked me to get him a DJ board which I did. He said, I want a proper one, so I got him some DJ lessons.

“I thought it would be a little hobby but he started asking to do the DJ’ing for his school clubs. He did the disco at the prom, he offered to do it for the scouts. He’d ring around all different companies asking them to DJ and started getting his name known out there. Perry’s DJ’ing career really took off when he won a competition to perform on stage at Ten Streets Social in the city centre with Loco Kidz, which runs events for children aged from 11 to 15 years old. Perry performed well and began getting lessons from another Liverpool DJ called Dan Ambrose. His stage name is now DJ Pezza.
Perry’s brother Myles began to take an interest in live music too. Kathy said: “Perry looks after Myles and he was interested in getting involved. We asked Dan what he thought. He said, we’ll get him in for a few lessons and see. They did really well and now they perform back to back with each other.”
The brothers often take to the stage at Ten Streets Social now as well as helping out at their old school. Their achievements soon got them noticed by Artim Media (Kids Rave) who are based in Belgium. They put them in touch with the organisers of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), which showcases some of the best dance artists from around the world.
For the first time in the history of the ADE, Perry, Myles and other young DJs will take the stage this year to show their incredible talent. The event will take place on Sunday 20 October 2024, the last day of ADE, at the legendary Club Panama in Amsterdam.
Kathy is delighted with what her two boys have achieved at such a young age. She said: “I’m just dead proud that two of my kids are gonna be making history at AGE. It’s their first ever event with just child DJs. They are very lucky boys to be given this amazing opportunity.
“To be offered these opportunities at their age we are so thankful. I hope my boys can inspire other young kids to follow their dreams. It shows you hard work does pay off. I’m so proud of them and it’s nice they’re looking after each other. Dan Ambrose has been very supportive of them too.”
Club Panama will open its doors on October 20, 2024 for this historic event. Organisers have promised those going not only an unforgettable experience, but also a unique opportunity to see ADE from a new perspective. You can find out more information here.
