Merseyside Police are appealing for information following a serious assault in Toxteth
A boy has been taken to hospital after he was hit over the head with a bladed weapon. Merseyside Police have cordoned off Coltart Street in Toxteth this evening (Sunday, October 13) after a boy, 14, was attacked.
Officers arrived at the scene around 6.30pm following reports that a boy had been walking on Lodge Lane, near the junction with Coltart Street, when he was assaulted by a group of men. Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with a serious injury to his head. His condition is described as serious but stable.It’s believed the suspects fled the area in a vehicle and inquiries are ongoing to locate them. A cordon remains in place at the scene and officers are in the area to carry out the initial stages of the investigation.

Detective Inspector Rob Pritchard said: “We are in the early stages of investigating this incident and we are appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch. This was a shocking attack on a young boy who has suffered a serious head injury and we are determined to find the people responsible.“The incident happened on a busy road and would have been witnessed by other people. If you saw what happened or have any information, please get in touch as a matter of urgency. If you live in the area and have CCTV footage, or you were driving past and have dashcam, please review the footage in case you captured anything.
“Officers remain in the area to carry out the initial stages of the investigation, which includes CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.
