The cheapest room they could find in Blackpool cost £18 per night
Love it or hate it, Blackpool is a staple of ‘cheap breaks away in the UK’ and with it being just over an hour drive from Liverpool it’s many people’s go to destination for a stay-cation.
The seaside town has been notorious over the years for stag and hen parties going for a boozy weekend away, often staying in cheap hotels. Some hotels can be as cheap as just £18 per night but at the other end of the scale you have much pricier rooms coming in at £215 – so what is the difference?
Well, a YouTube couple have shared their experiences in comparing the cheapest hotel in Blackpool with the most expensive and there was one big difference. Ryan and Jade, who go by the name Live the Dash, share their travel challenges with their 283,000 subscribers, reports LancsLive.

The couple start their video by showing their journey along the motorway to Blackpool on a sunny day and say the seaside town “used to be THE place to go to for a holiday in the UK”.
Archive footage of packed Blackpool beaches fill the screen as Jade explains that the advent of budget airlines meant that more families could afford to travel abroad for their summer holiday.
After first treating themselves to a traditional fish and chips the couple sit on the Promenade as they scroll through booking.com on their phones to find the cheapest hotel for the night. The cheapest hotel room comes in at £18 with a 4/10 rating on the app.
One reviewer described the hotel as “disappointing” while another referenced a “shared shower room”. One frank review listed the hotel’s cons as “the bedroom”.
Ryan and Jade then make their way to the Hotel Avano. Jade describes their room as “quite peculiar” while Ryan highlights the pros of “your own sink” before showing viewers the “worst view from a hotel room”.
The room is still “absolutely fine”, Ryan says, before going on to add: “This is actually better than I was expecting.”
The following day the couple find the most expensive hotel room for the night, priced at £215, at the Boulevard Hotel, which is less than a two minute walk from the Hotel Avano.
Their ‘park view’ hotel room boasts a window overlooking The Big One at the neighbouring Pleasure Beach which perhaps explains why the Boulevard commands the highest prices in Blackpool.
Their suite has a “massive TV” and comes with a free bottle of wine. There was one big difference between the two rooms – the view – which Jade says is one of the most unique views she’s seen from a hotel room.
The bathroom comes with luxury toiletries but guests are warned they face a £15 fee per bottle if they choose to take them from the room.
