Firefighters are dealing with an ongoing incident in Birkenhead. Eight fire engines are at the scene of a warehouse fire after being alerted to a blaze on Lorn Street.
Merseyside Fire and Rescure Service were alerted to the fire at 2.38am and arrived on the scene six minutes later. They are battling a warehouse fire 10 x 30 metres in size, with the fire coming from the roof.
Residents are being warned to keep their doors and windows closed as they deal with the ongoing incident. People with existing health conditions are being urged to keep medicines nearby

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescure Service said: “Fire Crews have been called to a fire at a warehouse on Lorn St., Birkenhead. Crews were alerted at 2.38am and on scene at 2.44am with eight fire engines and an aerial appliace in attendance.
“Crews arrived to find a warehouse 10 x 30 metres in size well alight with fire coming through the roof. Crew began fighting the fire with high pressure hose reels and the incident has been divided into sectors for firefighting.
“The incident is ongoing. Residents and businesses nearby should keep doors and windows closed. Those with existing health conditions should keep medicines nearby and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111.”
