Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool remains up in the air as he is coming to the end of his contract next summer
Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a name on everyone’s lips as he is coming to the end of his contract at Liverpool. If he was to leave his boyhood club next summer, a poll has suggested that fans believe the club already have a solution, thanks to Jurgen Klopp.
The right-back’s future remains up in the air as he is yet to sign a new extension, with just eight months left on his current deal. As it stands, Alexander-Arnold will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs in the new year.
Real Madrid remain interested in his services, with Marca recently reporting that even before Dani Carvajal’s recent knee injury, the Spanish giants were already considering strengthening their options at right-back. However, the latest report indicates Real have not made any sort of move yet.

Meanwhile, The Times report talks between Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold are at ‘an impasse.’ While conversations have taken place with the player’s camp, talks ‘have not found common ground.’ Elsewhere, the Telegraph adds that ‘reaching an agreement which suits all parties has so far proven difficult.’
Recently speaking about his future, the 26-year-old admitted he wants to remain at the club until the end of the season. “I have always said I want to captain the club; that is an aim of mine and a goal of mine, (but) whether that happens is out of my hands,” Alexander-Arnold said back in September.
“Look, I have been at the club 20 years now. I have signed four or five contract extensions, and none of those have been played out in public. And this one won’t be either. I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum), is what I will say.”
Alexander-Arnold is a firm fan favourite and a potential departure would cause major disappointment. However, if that was to happen, Liverpool ECHO readers have given their verdict on who they would like to see replace the England international.
81 per cent of Liverpool fans – as per an ECHO survey – believe the club should put their faith into Conor Bradley but also strengthen. Twelve per cent have voted for the Reds to recruit a high-profile signing while seven per cent say the club should sign a promising player who can be nurtured.
Former Reds boss Klopp bought Bradley to Anfield from Dungannon United in 2021. Since then, he has gone on to make a total of 34 appearances for the senior team and has impressed, with Klopp calling him a ‘wonderful’ player after a game against Chelsea back in February.
