Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the Football Association after a mass brawl broke out at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon
Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have found themselves in hot water with the Football Association following a chaotic scene during their recent Premier League clash. The fracas erupted towards the end of their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, with players from both sides involved in an 88th-minute melee.
The incident was sparked when Neco Williams shoved Marc Cucurella off the pitch, causing him to collide with Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, leading to a heated confrontation on the field. As a result, nearly all players and substitutes joined the commotion.
Both clubs have been given until Thursday to respond to the FA charge of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

An FA statement read: “Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged after the mass confrontation at their Premier League fixture on Sunday, 6 October,” adding, “It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.”
The statement continued: “Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, 10 October, to provide their responses.”
In the aftermath, Cucurella received his fifth yellow card of the season for his involvement, which means he will miss Chelsea’s upcoming game against Liverpool post-international break. Wesley Fofana was also booked and is set to sit out the Anfield match.
This marks the second occasion this season that Chelsea has accumulated six yellow cards in a match, potentially leading to a financial penalty.
One particular moment not caught by the referee involved Nicolas Jackson, who seemed to make contact with the face of a Forest player.
VAR confirmed they saw Jackson’s hand to the face but did not consider it obvious enough violent conduct to change the referee’s decision.
Jackson was not on the pitch having been substituted in the 81st minute and will face no retrospective action.
