Liverpool head into the international break full of confidence with Arne Slot’s side currently sitting top of the Premier League table after seven matches
Liverpool continued their excellent start to the season with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Reds have won all but one game under Arne Slot so far this season.
September’s defeat at home to Nottingham Forest is the only blot on Liverpool‘s copybook with the Reds going into October’s international break top of the Premier League table. Liverpool are next in action against Chelsea at Anfield on October 20.
But in a blow to Slot’s team ahead of their fixture against Enzo Maresca’s side in a fortnight, goalkeeper Alisson looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury against Palace.

Below, the Echo have taken a look at the latest headlines surrounding Liverpool…
Transfer claim
Cesar Huerta has opened up on his future after being linked with a move to Liverpool last summer. The Mexican winger scored 12 goals across all competitions in 2023/24.
And ESPN in Mexico claim a move to the Reds collapsed, ‘a few hours’ after they made an approach. “It didn’t move me at all, I’m very focused and I know that by doing things well, sooner or later a new opportunity will come,” he said.
“With Pumas we fight for the first place. There will be a lot of spotlight… to seek to consecrate myself here first with a title and in the long run the achievements will open doors for me. But first I think of Pumas, an institution that requires that concentration and one has to live up to it.”
Alisson latest
Liverpool have reportedly informed the Brazilian FA that Alisson will not be available for their October internationals. Brazil are due to face Chile and Peru in a World Cup qualifying double-header.
But Globo report that Brazil have called up Weverton as Alisson’s replacement. The Selecao’s medical team are said to have contacted the Reds after the Palace game and were told the goalkeeper could play no part in the upcoming games.
