Diogo Jota netted the only goal against Crystal Palace to ensure Liverpool spend the October international break at the top of the Premier League table
Diogo Jota has taken to social media after scoring the winner in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace. It was his 100th start in all competitions for the Reds since joining from Wolves in 2020.
The Reds sealed their sixth win of the season, bagging another crucial three points to remain top of the table, by just one point. Manchester City and Arsenal also enjoyed wins against Fulham and Southampton respectively.
Jota meanwhile, took to Instagram after the game to mark the win in south London. He published a selection of photos from the game and wrote: “Let’s go,” followed by a ladder emoji – which might explain his brand new celebration.

The post racked up millions of likes and comments in a short period of time. The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Ryan Gravenberch and Conor Bradley were spotted in the comments section.
Jota brought out a brand new goal celebration, leaving fans trying to guess what it could mean. With the 27-year-old forward known to be a huge fan of the popular football video game series EA FC (formerly known as FIFA) some appear to have figured it out.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), one fan said: “Jota did the Rodman FIFA celebration,” while another added: “Jota doing FC 25 ladder celebration. The guy loves FIFA.”
A third continued: “Of course, this guy’s celebration was about FC Pro Ladder,” and a fourth concluded: “Jota already told FIFA to change his celebration!”
Speaking after the game, Reds boss Arne Slot said: “The fixtures are difficult, but I have felt how difficult Wolves and Palace are away. It is good that we have won these games and it is up to us to show ourselves in the big games.”
Goalkeeper Alisson will not be involved in the next few games after the October international break due to a muscular injury. He was replaced by Vitezslav Jaros in the second half, with the Czech Republic international making his debut in the absence of backup Caoimhin Kelleher.
