Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions hosts a big night of boxing at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday
Frank Warren would love to stage a huge boxing show at Anfield as he prepares to return to the city this weekend. Warren’s Queensberry Promotions hosts a big night of boxing at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday, which sees Nick Ball put his WBA featherweight title on the line.
Ball fights Ronny Rios for the title he won back in June, while local fighters Andrew Cain, Brad Strand and Lucas Biswana are also all in action on the bill. It is the first time Warren has hosted a show in Liverpool for a number of years, and he would love to go a step further and host one at Anfield in the not too distant future.
“Of course I would; it goes without saying,” he replied when asked by the ECHO if staging a show at Anfield is something that would appeal to him.

“We talked about it a couple of years ago, and it didn’t happen for whatever reason. They have got the depth of talent here to do it.
“The talent is exceptional. They are good fighters, and they are exciting. The fighters here are good to watch.”
Asked about Ball’s homecoming this weekend, Warren added: “I am excited that we have got one of the most exciting fighters in the world headlining this card.
“If you are a boxing fan, you have got to love Nick Ball. He is unbelievable; he has got such energy; he is a monster. He is an absolute monster. You never see him in a bad fight.
“Homecoming, bringing him back home and making his first defence in Liverpool, and he is in with a guy who is going to come to fight.
“It is going to be exciting. I expect him to win because I think he is the best featherweight in the world, and he should be defending two belts here because he got robbed in that first fight.”
