One man ran into the woods after the police chase
A suspect has been named following a police chase. Merseyside Police said at around 7.20pm on Saturday, September 28 a stolen Kia Seed was sighted on Gorsey Lane in Netherton.
Following enquiries, a police chase was authorised at around 8.50pm and the car came to a stop on Gorsey Lane. The force’s dog policing unit said two people were detained in the car, however another ran into the woods.
Police dog Brutus was “nearby and quickly tracked him for the vehicle” and found him hiding in bushes. Jack Downey, 27, of no fixed abode, was arrested and has now been charged with dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, possession of a bladed article in a public place, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, no insurance and possession of cannabis and ketamine.

He has been remanded into custody. A 17-year-old boy from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of burglary; being carried on a stolen vehicle and possession of Class A and Class B drugs. A second 17-year-old boy from Netherton was also arrested on suspicion of burglary and being carried on a stolen vehicle.
