Latest Liverpool news and gossip as Arne Slot prepares the Reds to face Bologna at Anfield in the Champions League
Liverpool return to Champions League action this evening as they host Bologna at Anfield. The Reds go into the game looking to record their second win in the competition following the victory over AC Milan in their previous match.
Arne Slot has won seven of his eight fixtures as Liverpool head coach this season and recently guided the Reds to victory over Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend. Tonight’s game against Bologna will be Slot’s first experience of managing Liverpool in a European fixture at Anfield.
Liverpool will go into the game against Bologna with some fitness and injury concerns. Harvey Elliott remains sidelined with a fractured foot, while Federico Chiesa is not expected to be available.

Slot confirmed that Chiesa had missed training on Monday and is not expected to be involved to face Bologna. There was positive news regarding Diogo Jota, though, with the forward missing training in recent days.

Jota underwent scans on a foot injury he suffered during the win over Wolves on Saturday night. Slot stated that, despite the fears of an injury, he hopes Jota will be part of the matchday squad to face Bologna. Darwin Nunez is also expected to return to the squad after missing the victory at Molineux through illness.
