Danni Menzies was on hand to help John and Carol on their search for a dream holiday home during the latest episode but was told off when she didn’t get things right
A Place in The Sun: Buyer warns presenter about their budget
In a recent episode of A Place in the Sun which aired Monday afternoon (September 30), presenter Danni Menzies was told off by prospective buyer John for showing properties beyond his means.
The Channel 4 property hunting programme saw John and Carol enlisting Danni’s help in finding their perfect holiday abode in Tenerife. Armed with a modest budget of £120k, the couple were eager to find a spacious two-bedroom retreat complete with stunning views and access to a pool.
They were willing to consider a one-bed property if necessary given their financial constraints. The house hunt hit a snag when Danni introduced them to homes priced at least £20,000 over their budget.
John promptly remarked, “That’s top end of my budget and you’ve done it twice now.” Despite showing a pricier option with features they desired, Danni was met with skepticism, reports the Mirror.

Although John followed Dannis lead, he showed little enthusiasm upon entering the pricy two-bedroom home, quickly dubbing it “bland” and feeling that “something was missing”.
Viewers chimed in on the house search drama, with one remarking that John and Carol’s budget would struggle to stretch far in Tenerife. A viewer humorously suggested: “Danni should refuse to take them to next one unless she gets a 13% pay rise.”
By the conclusion of the programme, John and Carol had decided to make an offer. Expressing interest in apartment number five, John remarked: “I just think when you get off the plane, suitcases in the apartment, you’re on holiday.”
He then disclosed his proposed payment amount which was a few thousand of pounds lower than the asking price. But to sway the sellers, John confessed that he was willing to make the payment by cash.
John initially offered £110,000 but eventually increased his bid to £125,000. With negotiations underway, the estate agents marketing the property confirmed they were in discussions.
At the show’s end, it was announced that John and Carol’s offer had been accepted. Now the pair can enjoy some much needed time away at their discretion.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
