A familiar face is making their way back to Weatherfield in upcoming scenes as Coronation Street fans are going to see the return of Jesse Chadwick.
Coronation Street: Gail Returns Home From Thailand
Coronation Street is set to deliver a shock for fans as Jesse Chadwick makes his return to the cobbles after a 15-year absence.
Viewers with a good memory will recall his old flame with Eileen Grimshaw (played by Sue Cleaver). The drama next week unfolds when Eileen, fresh from her trip to Thailand, spots Jesse and quickly realises he’s not in town to rehash old times.
To her astonishment, she discovers that Jesse is actually searching for her neighbour and rival, Gail Platt (portrayed by Helen Worth).
As the story unravels, it’s revealed that Jesse and Gail crossed paths years ago while she was travelling, and they’ve secretly stayed in touch ever since.
Jesse’s unexpected visit comes after he hears about Gail’s granddaughter’s surgical ordeal in Turkey, prompting him to offer his support to an old friend, reports the Express.

But the question on everyone’s lips is whether there’s more to Gail and Jesse’s relationship than what’s being let on, and if Jesse’s motives for reconnecting are as innocent as they seem.
Gail’s relatives are wary of Jesse’s intentions, considering his past with Eileen. While Gail is overjoyed at seeing her globetrotting pal again, this reunion might just stir up more trouble on the street.
John, speaking about his comeback to the show, expressed his feelings about being asked to return, saying: “It was always a case of never say never, but it came in between jobs for me so the timing was perfect.
“I have a young daughter so I don’t like to travel too far from home and although the last time I was in the show was 15 years ago it has felt like meeting up with an old friend you haven’t seen for a long time and the years just melt away.”
Jesse first rocked up on the cobbles back in 2008, sparking a romance with Eileen the following year.
Their love story hit the rocks when Jesse came into some cash at the bookies and didn’t whisk her away on holiday.
Upon his return, Jesse made a move on Eileen’s half-sister, who promptly spilled the beans to Eileen. After being confronted by both women, Jesse made a swift exit and hasn’t been seen since.
But now he’s back, will Eileen be comfortable with him turning his attentions to Gail?
When quizzed about working with the Platt clan, the actor said: “Helen and I are absolutely thrilled to be working together, everyone’s good company and there’s always fun to be had on set with the Platts which is great.
“It was a bit like crank handle starting a car after all these years but the laughs have got us through.”
Jesse’s comeback coincides with the impending exit of Gail Platt from the street. Earlier this year, Helen Worth announced she was leaving the ITV soap after a five-decade stint.
With a new bloke in Gail’s life, could this signal the start of end of Helen’s time on Coronation Street?
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
