Fans said “something feels off” as they called out the change
Strictly Come Dancing viewers were confused by a change moments into tonight’s results episode. Sunday’s edition was the first results show in this year’s race for the Glitterball.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned to front the latest episode and reveal who was the first celebrity to be eliminated. Tom Dean and Toyah Willcox were the two celebrities who had to compete in tonight’s dance off.
However, fans following the show on social media platform X were distracted by a a format change at the beginning of the episode. Traditionally, the results show starts with a dance from the professionals.
However, tonight’s programme started with Tess and Claudia as they introduced tonight’s episode. Claudia said: “Tess and I are talking in serious tones which can only mean one thing. The return of the danceoff.”

Tess added: “After two weeks of performances and judges scores, you have now had your say. Tonight, two couples must compete to stay in the ballroom and and nobody wants to be the first to go out.”
The dancers proceeded to introduce a dance performance to When Doves Cry from the professionals, who were accompanied by the judges. Viewers following the show on X took to the social media platform to address the changes.
Eve said: “Something feel off this year, like they are formatting the show differently? I don’t like it” Ryan commented: “That was a very weird opening. Why did Tess & Claud introduce the pro number?”
Poppy posted: “Why are we not starting straight into a pro number. Please stop changing the format it’s weirding me out” Vicki said: “I dont mind tweaks to make the programme better, but the openings for the “live” Sunday and proper live Saturday I dislike…
“Where are the intros to everyone, wheres the hip bump by tess & claud, where’s the booming “live from…”, can we change back” Sophie posted: “What the hell is with all these format changes”

The judges were split on who they thought should exit the show with head judge Shirley Ballas making the final decision that Tom should exit the show. Viewers on social media platform X were gutted after the first celebrity exit was confirmed.
Katie said: “Gutted for Tom & Nadia. Definitely didn’t deserve to go home, let alone be in the dance off” Leah posted: “Did i just hear that right??? they saved toyah over tom???? I am genuinely so confused”
