Corrie fans delight in nostalgia as Hope has a cassette tape
Isabella Flanagan, the young star known as Hope Stape on Coronation Street, has previously opened up about her home life and being part of a family of soap actors. Isabella is famed for her role as the daughter of Fiz and her notorious ex John in the much-loved ITV soap, but her own family is also filled with thespian talent.
She has a twin brother, William, who plays Joseph Brown in the same Manchester-based drama, and their elder sister, Amelia, has been capturing hearts as April Windsor in Emmerdale since 2014.
Praised regularly for their compelling performances, the siblings have made quite the impression on screen. Adding to their list of accolades, at the 2022 Inside Soap Awards, both Amelia and Isabella found themselves competing for the Best Young Performer award.

The competition was stiff with nominees including Amelia’s on-screen half-sister Gabrielle Dowling (Cathy Hope) from Emmerdale, and Isabellas fellow Corrie actor Jude Riordan (Sam Blakeman). It was ultimately Isabella who took home the prestigious award.
Reflecting on the experience, Isabella shared with Inside Soap how elated she was with her first-ever nomination: “I always felt left out as my sister has won so many awards,” she expressed. “So it’s nice to finally be nominated.”, reports Plymouth Live.
Emphasising the strong connection between them, she said, “But we always support each other and run lines together. We have a really great bond,” Yet, the actress confessed that when the limelight of awards season shines upon them, the conversations back home can get a tad “heated”.
“There are so many debates at home whenever there are awards ceremonies,” she told the magazine. “Me and my brother are team Corrie and my sister is obviously team Emmerdale, so it does get a bit heated sometimes! “.
Amelia Flanagan opened up to Inside Soap about her household’s playful rivalry, admitting that while she’s firmly “Team Emmerdale”, her siblings cheer for “Team Corrie”. “It’s never competitive”, she shared, highlighting the supportive atmosphere when they practice lines together.
“I’ve run lines with Bella where she’s played Hope and I’ve pretended to be a character from Coronation Street, and she’s done the same with me, so it’s fun! “.
Amelia Flanagan made her first appearance on the Coronation Street set this May, joining her siblings for a family outing. Jude Riordan, who plays Sam Blakeman on the soap, shared an Instagram snap of the Flanagan clan outside the iconic Rovers Return Inn.
“Great day at the Corrie Cast and Crew fun day,” Jude captioned the photo, expressing his joy at reuniting with the Flanagan siblings. The post was met with a wave of comments, all singing the praises of the young soap stars.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
