Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has revealed his motivations in football.
The Brazilian ‘keeper is expected to return to Arne Slot’s side against Wolves at Molineux this weekend. He has opened up about his thoughts, feelings, and faith in an interview with former England shot-stopper Joe Hart.

Despite seemingly not being motivated by trophies, the keeper has won everything there is to win at Anfield with Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup medals to his name. His impressive performances, put him in line to be remembered alongside Ray Clemence as the best two Liverpool goalkeepers of all time.

He continued: “My faith in God makes me work hard and better and want to be the best in what I do because I believe everything I do is a way to praise God. Winning trophies and awards makes me happy, but my motivation comes from inside, my family.”
Since arriving on Merseyside from AS Roma in 2018, only Ederson has more clean sheets (97) than the Liverpool man’s 89. On his impressive record, he said: “I think it just some inner thin. The main part is hard work. I always like to improve myself. When I do a season that is my best season, this is the standard I need to go further.
“I like to focus on good positioning. If you have that, you are one step in front of the opponent. If you can act before [having to] react, it is better. I try to read the game as well, read the striker, look at his movements.”
Last summer, Alisson attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, and the 2025 arrival of Georgia and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili raised a few questions about his future.
However, while still at his peak, he admitted: “I am committed to this club 100% and that involves being part of the leadership group.” His words will no doubt be music to Liverpool supporters and his manager’s ears.”
Following the tone of several of his teammates, Alisson praised his new manager, the goalkeeper said: “We were great before but Arne is bringing to us a new energy and knowledge.
“He is a really smart manager and he is helping us a lot. You can see from how we are playing now.
“We are committed to the plan and can see it is a good plan. We still have a lot to improve but we are in the right direction. We have a big gap to reach for our best but we are doing well so far.”
