Jurgen Klopp could be in line for his first job after Liverpool with a tempting offer potentially on the table from his home country
Ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is Germany’s top choice to replace Julian Nagelsmann if the former Bayern Munich coach departs after the 2026 World Cup. Klopp bid farewell to Anfield this summer after a remarkable nine-year stint that saw him clinch Liverpool’s first Premier League title in 30 years, along with the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and the Champions League.
With Arne Slot spearheading a new era at Liverpool, Klopp is now eyeing a fresh chapter – although he has previously confessed he might retire from management altogether after disclosing his need for a break from the game.
Klopp was linked with the England job this summer following Gareth Southgate’s departure, but now the 57 year-old could receive an enticing offer from his homeland to coach the national team.

Sporting director and legendary ex-striker Rudi Voller discussed the possibility of Klopp taking over in the future and stated there would be “no way” they could ignore him should Nagelsmann leave post the next World Cup reports the Mirror, who claim he is Germany’s ‘number one target’ if the current boss leaves the country’s setup.

It has also been suggested that Klopp could be targeted should Nagelsmann depart from his post after the 2026 World Cup.
Voller expressed that Klopp would be the standout candidate if he desired the job – with his future plans still unknown.
“I don’t even know what Jurgen would like to do again,” he said, speaking to Aktuelle Sportstudio.
“If Julian Nagelsmann were to decide at some point that he would rather coach a top club again – then of course there is no way around Jurgen Klopp. If he wants to.”
Klopp has been savouring some downtime since his departure from Liverpool but was recently at the helm of a Dortmund legends squad for the testimonials of Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski.
He described managing Dortmund again as a “lifelong dream” yet emphasised his equal affection for all three of his clubs, including Mainz.
It remains uncertain if Klopp will assume another managerial role after fuelling speculation of retirement when revealing the astonishing decision to exit Liverpool earlier this year.
He claimed he would not take up another job for “at least one more year.”
He said: “If you ask me, ‘Will you ever work as a manager again? ‘ I would say now no. But I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation.”
“But all the rest, will I ever work again? Of course, I know myself, I cannot just sit around. I will find something else maybe to do. But I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year, that’s not possible, I cannot do that and I don’t want to. That’s all.”
